NSW State Show

The NSW Championships are 1 of only 2 Appaloosa only horse shows held in NSW yearly for members of this breed. The event is held in Dubbo, NSW, the hub of the central west. The event was held over 3 days (October 6th – 8th) and will have a series of Appaloosa Horse events over these days including Dressage, Hack, Hunter in Hand, Showmanship, Halter, Hunter under Saddle, Western Pleasure, Trail, Reining and Western Riding. The event tool place at the Dubbo’s Indoor Horse Arena at the Dubbo Showground. The Dubbo Showground has all the facilities needed for running a show with, plenty of stables, dressage arena, Indoor arena, Outside working areas, wash bays, camping, amenities blocks, and a function centre for holding meetings, cafeteria and night time entertainment.

The Orange Appaloosa Club has been the host for the State Championships for the past 15 years. Having the event at Dubbo gives us a greater opportunity to draw a large number of people from regional NSW and competitors from Victoria and Queensland. This event is proven to be one of the more popular events on our calendar.

WOW!!!!!! What a wonderful week we had! The NSW State Appaloosa Championships 2011 can be heralded a great success. Competitors travelled from far and wide to compete in what was certainly a great week of showing. The NSW Appaloosa championships was once again hosted by our club and on behalf of the organizing committee, I would like to thank everyone for the lovely letters, notes and calls that rolled in after the show. It is really nice to know that people do appreciate the work that goes into putting a show of this calibre together. Your gratitude was very well received. Thank you. The Pearson family deserve an enormous thank you for co-ordinating and putting the event together for us all to enjoy.

The Open Breeds Pre Show we held was also a great success and I’d like to personally thank those competitors that took the extra time off to come and join us on the week day. It is always nice to have a bit of a dress rehearsal and a go around in the pen before the big show starts. ORAC members please remember that the pre show is an open breed show that is run by our club. We would love to see you all there next year.......Spots or Not......... It's your show too!!!

In general the weather for our state show was not too bad. One day of heavy rain did not dampen our spirits and the show went on. Competitors were very excited about the prize money and great prizes we had and i don't think anyone would have gone home empty handed. We had a great roll up of numbers who attended the show and we all enjoyed a friendly fun week away.
